The Spirit of Rejection...

Published on 26 December 2024 at 16:06

The spirit of rejection is one we are all familiar with in one way or another. The guy you've had a crush one since the first grade and after 10 years you've finally gotten up the courage to tell him how you feel just for him to shut you down. Or the beautiful girl with the big natural curly hair who you have been going out of your way for since what feels like forever. She calls you every night but constantly complains about the way this guy treats her and you only wish she could see you the way you see her. When you finally express your feelings, she friend zones you and gives it no other thought afterwards.

No matter the situation, gender, or age group, rejection hurts and can even come with deadly consequences for some. And as a result most people have become fearful of rejection. It paralyzes the person and in turn they never have the desire to try because they are to scared of a negative outcome.
But what if I told you it's not just physical but also spiritual. What if I told you that just as there is medicine for the common cold, their is also an antidote for this as well. Let's take a look at what the good word has to say about the spirit of rejection and how to overcome it for good!

John 15:18

“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.”

Psalm 27:10

For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will take me in.

1 Corinthians 2:14

The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.

1 Peter 5:8

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

Rejection causes emotional wounds, which if not cleansed and released, will grow and fester into spiritual wounds (such as unforgiveness, envy, blaming God, jealousy, etc.). Those spiritual wounds open us up to evil spirits which love to take advantage of this opportunity to invade us. The spirit of rejection is a lie straight from the pits of hell! It is designed to make you believe you're not good enough for something and that you never will be no matter how hard you try. This spirit likes to play mind games with the individual and make you fearful of the unknown. It taunts you with feelings of worthlessness, "they will never want me" does this sound familiar?

This stronghold of rejection makes you question your identity in Christ Jesus and tells you that you are not fully adopted into God’s family. It battles against the spirit of sonship.

Seven Manifestations of the Spirit of Rejection

1. You feel despondent. There seems to be no words of encouragement that can be spoken over you to set you free from this feeling of rejection.
2. You feel left out of conversations as if you are an observer, unable to interact.
3. You feel that life’s opportunities have passed you by, and it is too late to do anything about it.
4. You feel rejected if you are not recognized for your accomplishments by those in authority.
5. You feel the spirit of envy setting in as you begin comparing your situations with others.
6. The feeling of envy and comparison partner with rejection and tell you that you were not given a fair chance in life.
7. You feel the need to prove yourself while at the same time feeling you can never measure up.

Where Does The Spirit of Rejection Come From?

It could have possibly started as early as childhood or even birth. A child born into a family that did not want a child and the parents have never actually accepted their little one. So the child grows up either trying too hard to belong because they have never experienced what this feels like, or they grow up detached and refuse to get close to anyone because they fear being pushed aside. But rejection can also happen in the womb. Ever met someone who was pregnant and filled with hatred? This person did not want the child they were caring and couldn't wait to get rid of this unborn child or ready to place the baby up for adoption without even a glance back. And I hate to break it to you, "No actually I'd be delighted too!" But abortion is the ultimate form of rejection to ever take place. Not only have you made up your mind that you do not want the baby, but you have decided for the unborn child that their life does not matter, it is not important, and they don't even deserve to have a life to begin with. Not only was the unborn child rejected, they were also murdered!!! For the one's who have chosen this route no matter how the child was conceived, you'll have to take it up with Yah on the day of judgement if you haven't chosen to humbly approach his throne already for repentance.

What Does The Bible Say About The Spirit Of Rejection?

John 10:10 tells us that these oppressive spirits from the enemy come to steal, kill, and destroy. They do this by persecuting you through your thoughts and bringing on fears and negative mindsets full of anxiety and depression.

Believers who experience the operations of the spirit of rejection must go to God in prayer and fasting and seek God’s face in faith so as to break the yoke of the spirit of rejection. Isaiah 10:27. Rejection is an indignation, a yoke of the devil that is broken on the altar of prayer and fasting.

In the Bible, Romans chapter eight speaks of God's antidote to the spirit of rejection. This cure comes from our Heavenly Father, through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and is born witness to by the Holy Spirit. It is called the spirit of adoption.

Romans 8:15, NASB: "For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons and daughters by which we cry out, 'Abba! Father!'"

Nothing is to hard for The Most High and if you feel you may be plagued with this spirit of rejection, then it is time you acknowledge it, come against it in prayer and fasting, and cast your cares believing that you are delivered from such a thing.

So then, How do we overcome the spirit of rejection?

Here's how:

  • Begin by prayerfully asking the Holy Spirit to reveal the root cause of this oppressive spirit.
  • Repent of the areas and times you have believed the spirit of rejection and orphan spirit over the spirit of sonship. Take each thought the Holy Spirit reveals to you captive. Renounce it.
  • Declare your identity in Christ.
  • Stay in the Word of God. Remember, in consistency lies the victory! Spend time with God daily and meditate, filling your mind with who He says you are.
  • Thank God for all He has done and will do as He promises to set you free! Call on Yah and he will hear you. Again I'll tell you that nothing is to hard for him. He desires to help us and we should have a desire to let him do so. It's time to renounce any and all generational curses tied to a spirit of rejection that came through the womb and attached themselves to you. Forgive your mother and father, your ancestors, and others for things that resulted in you feeling unloved, rejected, unable to measure up, unworthy and unaccepted. They too, were probably victims of a generational curse that caused them to develop negative behaviors. They too, probably had people in their life that the enemy worked through to create a sense of rejection and unworthiness in them. Then it got passed on to you. But it's not the end for you, you can overcome and by the love and grace of Yah, believe me when I say, you will. The victory is yours and the battle is already won. Yah's word will never come back void for he is not a man that he should lie. Trust him and let him work on your behalf, the end result is that you
    will finally be set free!
